Typical tipping ranges from 10% (casual) through 15% (standard) to 20%+ (excellent service) depending on the country — the field is editable so any custom percentage works. Splitting between friends stops being an argument.

Frequently asked questions
In the US 15–20% is standard; in much of Europe 5–10% or rounding up is common; in many Asian countries tipping is optional or included as a service charge. Adjust the field to local custom.
Convention is on the pre-tax amount, but many people simply tip on the total. Enter whichever base you prefer.
This tool splits evenly. For uneven splits, calculate each person's items separately and add their share of the tip.
